Editors are worth their weight in gold and diamonds!
I knew it was good news when Amira Press publisher, Yvette Lynn, assigned top editor Wendy Jo Dymond to my novel, WINDWARD WHISPERINGS. I had already heard that no one could touch the thoroughness of Dymond. It wasn't long before I experienced her crystal clear ability to see the big picture of story and a sag in the middle (corrected by her suggestion "let's send P.I. Leviticus and Garrette down to the Caribbean where they see the corruption for themselves." The edits of Wendy Jo Dymond cut deep and produce amazing results.
Romance Reader at Heart reviewer Maame Kanbi had this to say about WINDWARD WHISPERINGS, a cross-racial romance-- the romance between Kitzie and Garrett was wonderful to read. Kitzie is African American, and Garrett is Caucasian. I found that I loved both of these characters a lot. Kitzie is a fighter, having lost everything after the death of her parents. Their deaths weigh heavily on her, and she can't accept the thought that her parents would commit suicide, as it seems to be the case. Garrett returns as a hotshot consultant to save the boating manufacturing company, Naiad Sailboats. He is a self-made man and comes back wanting to give Kitzie the world, though she isn't receptive. Even if you don't like IR (interracial romance) I would highly recommend Kathleen Rowland's novel for, in the end, it is a story about two people learning to love one another. WINDWARD WHISPERINGS is a great novel that I feel all romance readers would enjoy should they give IR a chance.
Another review-- this one from Romance Readers at Heart THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: MINING EVERMORE is awarded 4 Roses.
Kathleen Rowland’s new release is a paranormal thriller called MINING EVERMORE. Both a page-turner and seat gripper, this new release is a well-written story that will leave both romance and paranormal readers satisfied.
Rowland pulled no punches and started MINING EVERMORE in high gear. There’s so much going on from the first page that you literally don’t have time to even breathe until you've finished reading the book. The characters are introduced right away, their background isn’t long and drawn out, and you know who they are and what their jobs are straight away. We find out who Tara Delacruz is, who and what Cordell Smith is, and what is going to bring these two opposite people together.
Cord is the Mayor of Landings Beach, California, and he is also an immortal. He’s trying to investigate the gruesome happenings at his beach without bringing the townsfolk into a panic. Tara is a criminal lawyer who is not the most popular person in town, because her line of work deals with getting criminals off the hook. She knows about the happenings at the beach and, unfortunately, that brings her into contact with the devilishly handsome Cord.
Cord doesn’t want Tara involved in the investigation, but he has a hunch that she might have come in contact with the perpetrator. Someone who knows that there are other immortals in the area committing these crimes on the beach. Cord’s job is to find him before all hell breaks out. Even though Tara is good at what she does, he can’t let her know all the details about the crimes and he can’t let her get involved with the case. As the story progresses, and it certainly does, the relationship between Tara and Cord intensifies.
Both Tara and Cord are smart and well-written characters. Their romance is an added plus to this thrilling story. Rowland seamlessly combined an unique paranormal plot with a hot romance. MINING EVERMORE is terrific, and definitely worthy of Four Roses. I’m anxious to see what Kathleen Rowland will write next.

Five stars from John Philip Meyer! The trusted reviewer from Long Island Book Drifters writes: I just finished WINDWARD WHISPERINGS, the second one I've read by Kathleen Rowland, and can't wait to read more. I'm a character person. When a writer creates a reality in the dialogue between and in the descriptions of the characters and the place...I keep reading. I have found Landings Beach and it's inhabitants to be full of the qualities you would expect from a coastal California town. A place of relaxed sophistication and beautiful edginess, not too far removed from the rest of California's grit and psychosis. The people have a past, but are alive in the present, driven by their qualties to thrust forward through obstacles and find their very own destinies. The characters are very real to me, like people I know... well, maybe just a wee bit better. . .another review from Barbara Anderson, Romantic Times writes: When Kitzie and Garrett are together, their chemistry is just right. The love scenes and intrigue make this an enjoyable read. Now a successful business consultant, Garrett Mackenzie has been hired to save Naiad Boatworks from bankruptcy. But, he's taken on more than he bargained for-- including the beautiful Kitzie Piermont. Kitzie and Garrett were high school sweethearts, even though they came from completely different backgrounds. Now they find themselves involved in a murder, arson, and corrupt business dealings. Smooth sailing isn't possible for these star-crossed lovers.
A review from Leigh at Romance Junkies-- Set along the beautiful and mysterious California coast, MINING EVERMORE pairs sensuous romance with chilling suspense. Tara’s intelligence and upbeat attitude is a perfect match for Cord’s easygoing but broody nature, and the two mesh together like longtime lovers. The mystery itself has a Hitchcock-type feel and is appropriately spine-tingling. Author Kathy Rowland has penned an engrossing romantic thriller that will keep you guessing through the end.

I enjoy making ragtag lap quilts. Squares represent scenes in my romantic suspense, MINING EVERMORE, Amira Press.
